Jim Ortiz started Job Lighthouse in 2001 as a means of facilitating the connection of skilled professionals with leading edge Biopharmaceutical companies.

Prior to starting his private practice, Jim worked in the Human Resources departments of several multi-national corporations.  During the course of his professional life he has interviewed nearly a thousand candidates and reviewed several thousand resumes.  Among his accomplishments are successfully implementing the Career Assistance Program at a leading biotechnology company, dedicated to helping several hundred relocated partners with employment.  He also provided continuing education regarding career development by leading seminars on Interviewing Skills, Selection Interviewing, Coaching, Goal Setting, Time Management, and New Employee Orientation.

Jim was also active in the greater community, and has served on several panels at UCLA and Cal State, Northridge dedicated to promoting awareness of, and educating university students about, the techniques of successful career planning, interviewing and job hunting.

This considerable experience has given Jim insight into successful career development strategies, from cover letter and resume formatting, to interviewing skills and personal presentation.  

Jim is a member of the SHRM (Society for Human Resources Management), PIHRA (Professionals In Human Resources Association), and the CCDA (California Career Development Association).  He has also earned standing as a Competent Toastmaster (CTM) from Toastmasters International.

Jim graduated from UCLA, where he was captain of the Cross Country team.  He now lives in Ventura, Califonia, with his wife and two daughters.
